Located about 50 kilometers north of Chichijima, Hahajima is a slender island stretching from north to south. Covered with subtropical tall trees, this lush, tranquil island is a natural treasury. Among precious species of animals there is Hahajimameguro, a bird found only in Hahajima.

>Samegasaki Observatory
The observatory can be seen on your left at the tip of the cape when the Hahajima-maru enters Oki Harbor. The thatched tropical style observatory is a 10-minute walk form the port. It commands a panoramic view of the sparkling blue sea, Oki Harbor, Maehama, and Ishijiro Beach.

>Hirashima
A small, flat island with a sweeping white sand beach is an ideal place for swimming. The northern side of the island is designated as a marine park. The island is famous as the largest spawning ground for green turtles in the Ogasawara archipelago. The island can be seen from Oki Harbor.

>Mt. Chibusa
The 463-meter mountain is the highest mountain in the Ogasawara archipelago. The mountain can be reached by a trail starting from Oki village. You can find many endemic plants and birds there including hahajimameguro.
