>Mt. Mihara
There are six different hiking courses to the mountain, varying from a fifteen-minute course to a two-and-a-half-hour course. The most popular course, the two-hour and twenty-minute Ohachi Meguri course, starts at the "Mihara Sanchoguchi" bus stop and circles the rim of the mountain's volcanic crater. Don't forget to check the timetable for the return bus. |

>Izu Oshima Volcano Museum
A very rare museum dedicated to volcanoes, it features films of Mt. Mihara's eruptions, various exhibits showing the relationship between Japanese people and volcanoes, and information on volcanoes around the world. It also offers an attraction called "Magma Tours," a combination of a CG animation, a Body Sonic sound system and a ride that simulates a tour into the crater of Mt. Mihara. |

>Hama-no-yu
Located in Naganehama Park near Motomachi Port, this open-air bath uses water gushing from a hot spring that was found after the 1986 eruption of Mt. Mihara. It is an ideal spot to view Mt. Fuji and the Izu Peninsula, especially at sunset. As it is for mixed bathing, users must wear bathing suits. (bathing suit rental available) |
