Ten years to harvest! Chocolate made with Japanese cacao grown on Hahajima Island
The cultivation of cacao, which is the main ingredient in chocolate, has been successful on Hahajima Island. A new brand of chocolate named “Tokyo Cacao” was released in autumn 2019. It took more than 10 years from the planting of the first seedlings to the harvesting of the berries, resulting in a completely new taste. The new flavor of the chocolate makes you realize that cacao is a kind of fruit. Try it yourself!
