Annual Festival of Jusansha-jinja Shrine
This is a festival of the Jusansha-jinja Shrine, which is one of the largest shrines in the Izu Islands. The Shinto rituals of this annual festival, “Shishikiyari” and “Kagura,” are designated as Intangible Cultural Properties of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. In particular, “Shishikiyari” is a valuable folk art performed only on national celebrations and celebrations in the village or the shrine. It is a rare Shishimai (lion dance) where two male and two female shishi lions, with five people in each, dance to a Kiyari song. It is scheduled to be performed in the Shiwasu Festival in 2019 and it has been a long time since the last dance.
